Kenya–South Korea MoUs on Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Under Review

Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, on Thursday met with the South Korean Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Kang Hyung-shik, to review the status of bilateral collaboration in the blue economy and maritime affairs sectors.

The meeting focused on the implementation of two key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Kenya and South Korea, one on blue economy and fisheries and the other on maritime affairs.

“We reviewed the progress made under these agreements and identified the next steps required to fully realize their objectives,” said CS Joho.

The two leaders also discussed Kenya’s participation in the upcoming 10th Our Ocean Conference, scheduled to take place in Busan, South Korea, from June 28 to 30. Furthermore, they explored avenues for close collaboration to ensure the successful hosting of the 11th Our Ocean Conference, which Kenya is set to host in the coastal city of Mombasa next year.

The meeting was also attended by Ms. Betsy Njagi, Principal Secretary for Blue Economy and Fisheries.
