Ministry and Qatari Embassy Agree to Develop MOU on Collaboration
The Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, in partnership with the Qatari Embassy in Kenya, has agreed to work together on developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their collaboration in mining, the blue economy and maritime affairs.
This agreement was reached during a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi, when H.E. Mohammed Mutair Al-Shamlani Al-Anzi, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Kenya, paid a courtesy call on Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho.
"We had the opportunity to discuss key areas of collaboration, including mining, blue economy, fisheries, maritime affairs and shipping.
“This collaboration will involve inviting Qatari investors to establish mineral refineries in Kenya, as well as developing and enhancing cooperation in deep-sea fishing and water transport, all with the goal of creating quality jobs for our youth in these three sub-sectors," said CS Joho.
Principal Secretaries Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy and Fisheries), Elijah Mwangi (Mining), and Geoffrey Kaituko (Shipping and Maritime Affairs) also participated in the meeting
